During the medieval period the Scriptorium was a place of learned wisdom in monastic communities. It was where devotees meticulously copied books by hand and, as you can well imagine, it took many years to complete a new copy. In that era books were rare and very precious.
We live in a different time and while books are not so very rare anymore we remain enamored with the idea of lingering over the written word. Perhaps you do as well?
